In January, my daughter Erica and her husband Alvaro Garcia arranged to take us to the Elqui Valley in the Andean foothills, for a stay in the town of Pisco Elqui. As the name implies, this is where the grapes to produce pisco are grown.
This quiet town is a combination of agriculture and tourism, and just far enough off the beaten path to not be over-run with people. Lots of old buildings, bight colors and murals.
